An Edited Second Amendment - and related thoughts

By NITZAKHON

"The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, and no law or executive action shall be passed that does so."

And while I'm at it, I'd like to propose some other Amendments:
  1. No person shall serve more than 16 years of accumulated service across all elected positions in the federal government.  At the end of a politician's service, all remaining campaign funds will be returned, proportionately, to the donors.  Any politician or government employee leaving federal service is barred from employment in a lobbying capacity, whether directly as a lobbyist or indirectly as an advisor, for no less than five years.
    • Term limits!  It was never meant to be a life-long career.  And it's time to stop the revolving door between government and lobbyists (thanks to instapundit for this idea!).
  2. No person born in the US shall be considered a US citizen unless both parents are shown to be here legally.  If either or both parents are not US citizens, both must be shown to have arrived in the US legally and taken steps, prior to the birth, to reside in the US permanently before granting said child US citizenship.  Not showing this, parents and child are deported to the country of the dominant parent (or sole parent) with a ten-year bar on their re-entry into the US.
    • Stop "Birthright citizenship"
  3. Any laws passed must be applied to all persons equally.
    • No exempting Congress or government officials / employees from things like Obamacare
  4. All governmental forms will be in English only, and English will be the official language of the United States.  The one exception to this will be emergency services such as police, fire, and medical services.
    • No language Balkanization; you move here, you learn English
  5. All legislation proposed going forward shall:
    1. Have every section tied to the Enumerated Power of the Constitution from which it derives its authority.
    2. Have a sunset period of no more than 20 years, after which the law is null and void unless re-approved by through the Legislative process with Executive approval again.
And one more proposal.  The income tax code shall be amended as follows, to be - in its entirety:
All income shall be taxed at the same rate, which shall be determined by Congress in a roll-call named vote, but shall not exceed 20%.

In other words, everyone now has a skin in the game with respect to taxes regardless of income level.  And by insisting the rate be set by named vote, get those Congresscritters on record.
