A Good Jake

R.I.P. Frankie Flynn
May the Gates of Heaven Swing Wide Open to Receive Him.

Chances are, if you walked past the firehouse on Boylston Street across from the Hynes some time in the last 28 years, you saw or spoke to Frankie Flynn.

He was a firefighter and one of the happiest guys in the world. Frankie Flynn would talk to a telephone pole. He went on the job in 1986, assigned to Engine 33 in the Back Bay, and never left. He was always there. And he was always smiling.

But a couple of months ago, he was suddenly wincing.

“My back is killing me,” he confided to other firefighters.

Everybody figured Frankie hurt his back working a fire, because he was a worker, what firefighters call a good jake.

The pain got so unbearable that Frankie finally went to the doctor, about a month ago, and the doctor told him he was going to die.

“The cancer was all through him,” Eddie Glora was saying. “They said there was nothing they could do. So Frankie goes, ‘Then why am I in the hospital?’ He signed himself out.”

Safe at Home

I'll not go through the whole story again. Readers that have been following for the last couple years will know where this is coming from.

My eldest son has returned home to me in New England. We picked him up on Friday evening at Logan.
Nuff Said.

Dave in PB has Left the Building

I'll be offline for a bit. I'll be checking into Veterans Memorial later today. It's a crapload of issues that need to be taken care of right now. It may be a week or more. I'll check in when I can. Take Care All.

Dick and Rick Hoyt

As Vanderleun would say: This is Something Wonderful

An Otherwise Perfect Day

OK ... So I'm not one to complain about much.
Yesterday was a good day. Dinner with the girls and a party later at my sister's home. It's an annual event she calls Pizza Christmas. Family during the day then the kids show and party all night long. This is not about the party though.

Since I had the long drive out to the burg, I brought my laundry to do at the local laundromat. It was cold and the plow guys seem to be less than competent in the area.

Entering the laundromat, I shed my jacket, gloves and my Red Sox stocking cap at a nearby folding table.
My laundry detergent had become frozen in the trunk of my car so I had to get change to purchase a couple boxes of Tide or whatever.

There was a guy just finishing up his own laundry and packing up. That rat bastard grabbed my Red Sox cap while I was busy making change. I hope I see him again. I'll take my Red Sox Cap from him and give him a kick in the groin that he so richly deserves.

OK so back from my sister's party later last evening I find my Jackazz of a neighbor has taken my parking spot in the driveway. Not a thing right? Except Plow guy left a 4 foot berm behind my car. It took most of the morning to dig that bastard out. How nice it must be to pull in and find a perfectly shoveled parking spot THAT YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO DIG OUT YOURSELF.
That guy also well deserves of a kick in the groin.
