FBI investigate Quabbin Reservoir trespassing

It's only the primary water supply for Boston ... No Worries, Right?
BELCHERTOWN, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) – Seven individuals originally from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore will be summonsed to court for trespassing after a Mass. State Police trooper found them on the grounds of the Quabbin Reservoir early Tuesday morning.

A trooper in the area of the Quabbin Reservoir at about 12:30 a.m. discovered two cars parked on the grass at the reservoir's middle entrance. As he approached, he saw seven people, five males and two female, walking away from the reservoir towards the cars.

The male individuals told police they were chemical engineers, and all the individuals claimed to be recent college graduates. They told police they were interested in the reservoir because of their education and career interests.

The trooper determined the people were trespassing and in violation of the no trespassing law and requested backup.

Officers arrived on scene and checked the cars, park area, and the people and did not find any items out of place or of criminal nature.

Authorities performed background checks and no warrants, detainers, or advisories were issued on any of the individuals who now reside in Amherst, Cambridge, Sunderland, Northampton, and New York City.

Following an investigation, the individuals were allowed to leave as there was no evidence of any criminal activity or tampering with the water system; however, the individuals will be summonsed to court for the offense of trespassing.

The Commonwealth Fusion Center identified the individuals as being from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore; however, their exact names will not be released prior to their court date.

The investigation is ongoing.
