The ship, fresh from a Mississippi shipyard, passed Point Loma and entered San Diego Bay at 9 a.m. Friday. After slowly parading through the bay, it pulled into Naval Base San Diego, its new home.
This San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship is the fourth Navy ship to be named for San Diego but the first to be stationed here.
