Distractions

The Bushmaster Carbon 15 Type 21S pistol has top of the line features of the popular Type 97S rifle in a package that weighs less than three and a half pounds. The upper and lower receivers are molded of state of the art Carbon Fiber 15 material that offers incredible durability, strength and ultra-light weight. The pistol’s 7 1/4" stainless steel, match grade barrel is chambered for the 5.56 NATO cartridge and readily accepts the .223 Remington cartridge as well. A Quick Detachable Compensator on the barrel controls muzzle rise and felt recoil, and is easily removed by means of its spring loaded locking collar.

It's Hot

99 Degrees at 1500
Og reminds us It's never too hot to enjoy the view.

Finished my day at the gas station, filling up across the pump from another heat-annoyed Explorer owner. Next pump in the line, a woman pulls up on a Vespa wearing a Herve Leger A-line dress. There has been some rain but not enough to do more than dampen the pavement, and there’s a strong wind. She has on a half helmet and as she lifts the seat to fill the fuel tank she drops her keys. “The day is about to get a whole lot better” I say to my companion at the opposite pump. “And hotter” he responds. She bends to pick up the keys, evidently oblivious to the fact that her skirt has blown up around her waist for a moment of time too small to be measured, but which seems like about an hour.

We stare in silence.
Reminded me of a similar "The View from My Windshield" moment when a very nicely shaped college girl on her way to UCSD was riding along Gennesee Avenue on her scooter. She was completely unaware of the view from directly behind. All I could think of at the time was this prayer. Thank You GOD for blessing me much more than I deserve and Please make the light at Govenor Drive Green.

Turn Left ... Recalculating

Drive Through Corn Field ... Now Arriving at Destination Sand Trap on Left.
UXBRIDGE -- An Uxbridge woman told police she drove into a sand trap on a golf course because her GPS told her to.
Police say she was drunk.
Patricia Maione was held on $10,000 bail after pleading not guilty Tuesday to charges including driving with a suspended license and fourth offense drunken driving.
Authorities say the 47-year-old woman’s car got stuck in a bunker at the Whitinsville Golf Club in Northbridge on Monday. She told police her GPS told her to turn left, which she said led her to drive through a corn field and onto the golf course.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that police say they found a cup filled with alcohol in her car.
There were golfers on the course at the time, but no one was hurt.

1953 Buick Skylark

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Buick released a limited edition model as a present to itself and the public. That birthday Buick was named the Skylark and it was the head-turning convertible, only available for two years, that would go down in history as one of the most sought after luxury classics of all time. General Motors released two other limited-production convertibles that year—the Oldsmobile Fiesta and the Cadillac Eldorado—but the birthday Buick stole the show. LINK
The Buick Skylark was the work of Harley Earl and took its styling cues from Earl's XP-300 experimental LeSabre. The Buick Skyark continued Buick's desire to build mid- to upper level automobiles with great quality and design. Buick took almost all optional equipment and made them standard on the Skylark. The Skylark sat perched on the Roadmaster chassis and given a 322 cubic-inch Fireball V8 capable of producing 200 horsepower. The engine was mated to a three-speed Dynaflow automatic which sent the power to the rear wheels. Four-wheel hydraulic brakes provided the stopping power. LINK

It's Kind of Quiet Around Here

The First Amendment in History
The First Amendment
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
-- Amendment One, Bill of Rights, United States Constitution
The History of the First Amendment Thomas Jefferson once claimed, “A democracy cannot be both ignorant and free.” This was the commonly held attitude of the “enlightened” men who settled the United States. The framers of the Constitution believed that if the new U.S. citizens failed to take care to share information completely among themselves, they would be worse off than they had been as subjects of the British monarchy they fled.
The new American settlers brought with them a desire for democracy and openness. They left behind a history of tyranny and official control of information. Using this experience as their guide, the constitutional fathers wrote into their new Constitution a Bill of Rights, which contained the First Amendment.
The Bill of Rights consists of the first ten amendments, which contain procedural and substantive guarantees of individual liberties and limits upon government control and intervention.
The First Amendment, perhaps the best known of these freedoms and protections, prohibits the establishment of a state-supported church, requires the separation of church and state, and guarantees freedom of worship, of speech and the press, the rights of peaceable assembly, association and petition.
While some Supreme Court justices have declared that First Amendment freedoms are absolute or occupy a preferred position, the Court has routinely held they may be limited so as to protect the rights of others (e.g. libel, privacy), or to guard against subversion of the government and the spreading of dissension in wartime. Thus, the Court’s majority has remained firm — the First Amendment rights are not absolute.
Only two Supreme Court justices, Justice Hugo Black and Justice William O. Douglas, insisted the First Amendment rights are absolute and their dissenting opinions fell to the wayside. Most court cases involving the First Amendment involve weighing two concerns: public vs. private. Also, the Supreme Court has often defined certain speech, also known as “at risk speech,” as being unprotected by the First Amendment:
•Burning draft cards to protest draft — prohibited because of superior governmental interest.
•Words likely to incite imminent violence, termed “fighting words.”
•Words immediately jeopardizing national security.
•Newspaper publishing false and defamatory material — libel.

Gun Safety Fail

via DougM at KISPPoints to this Epic Gun Safety Fail.
A Des Moines family evacuated their apartment on Friday night after gunfire came through their ceiling, apparently fired from the apartment above. [They] were in the living room of their apartment with their two kids when they heard a noise that sounded like a firecracker. [He] saw that the television was damaged and surrounded by debris. One of the children then pointed out two holes in the ceiling above, prompting the family to leave the apartment. [W]hile clearing the apartment, officers found debris from a couch in the living room and a hole through the floor. In a bedroom, officers found a bag of marijuana, a narcotics pipe and a grinder. [P]olice found a … 12-gauge shotgun, as well as five rounds of shotgun slugs. A spent shell casing was also found under the seat. The female resident … told police that she had been sitting on the couch while her boyfriend, who had the shotgun in his hands, was sitting at the other end. While he was holding it, she said, the gun went off. [S]he and her boyfriend both left the apartment after the gun went off. They were both afraid that police would come to arrest them ….

Yep ... Epic Fail
1.All guns are always loaded!
2.Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy!
3.Keep your finger BoogerHook off the trigger Bangswitch until your sights are on the target!
4.Always be sure of your target! Oh and more importantly what's behind your intended target.

Unc would go further, I'm sure, lecturing on the subject of Negligent Discharge of a Firearm. Whatever else happens to this pair of nitwits, This Kind of Stupid should be Painful. Fortunately in this case, no one was injured.

One more thing ... These are not the same.
