WASHINGTON, D.C.—As Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez continued to prepare to take office as an actual congresswoman that people in the United States apparently voted for of their own volition, her aides forced her to sit down and watch the entire run of Schoolhouse Rock!, a popular education program that teaches youngsters rudimentary ideas on topics ranging from economics to politics.

Now, both Boston Police Commissioner William Gross and the ACLU are talking about the ongoing controversy. Both sides say they're planning to sit down.
"I was simply on my Facebook page talking to my friends saying, 'Don't get dejected. You can sue us all day. Don't get dejected. Your voices will heard,'" Gross said Tuesday morning while taking questions on his Facebook post during an event for youth programs.
The ACLU says it filed the lawsuit with other agencies because Boston Police would not release information about their gang database after they submitted records requests.
"People can be the subject of an unlawful stop because their name is included in the gang database. People can be deported because of the allegation they are in a gang database," said Rahsaan Hall of ACLU Massachusetts.
On his Facebook post, Gross posted that the ACLU should walk in his officers' shoes, saying "They are never in the streets but always hiding and waiting for a slow news day."
"I sure as hell didn't see the ACLU in El Salvador working to find solution to our youth being inducted into the MS-13 Gang," the Facebook post read, adding, "Despite the paper warriors, we'll continue to do our jobs."
On Tuesday, Gross said he was trying to show the side of law enforcement.
"Pretty much saying this: 'Can you walk a mile in our shoes? Can you walk a couple of steps? Just hear our voice too,'" Gross said.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said he supports what the police commissioner wrote, and is proud of the city's transparency at all levels.
"We are not going to close those doors, we will never will," Walsh said. "I think there's ways of getting to a resolution and ways of getting information. I don't think everyone has to sue."
Hall, of the ACLU, said the group defends civil liberties.
"The ACLU is a law reform organization. We advocate in the courts and in the legislature and in the communities to defend everyone and their civil rights and civil liberties," Hall said.
It's unclear why the requested records were not released or if they were protected in some way from being released.

A bag of state regulated weed will only set you back about $400 an ounce
LEICESTER, Mass. — The Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission has given approval for two shops to begin marijuana sales starting Tuesday.
The commission authorized Cultivate Holdings LLC and New England Treatment Access (NETA) LLC to start selling marijuana and marijuana products.
The announcement ends a long wait for commercial sales to begin in Massachusetts. The state's voters legalized the use of recreational marijuana by adults 21 and older in 2016, but it's taken more than two years for state legislators and regulators to reach the point where the first stores can finally open.
The target date for retail sales had been July 1.
The Northampton store, operated by New England Treatment Access, said it would open for recreational sales at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. Cultivate Holdings, which operates the Leicester store, said its doors would also open at 8 a.m. that day.

HORTONVILLE, Wis. — A company that produces novelty glassware embedded with a bullet as if it had been shot has decided give every employee a handgun as a Christmas present.In Other News
Giving employees their choice of revolver as a gift is part of an effort to promote personal safety and team building, Ben Wolfgram, who co-owns Hortonville-based BenShot, said Tuesday.
The business has 16 full-time employees, including several veterans. But the business also has employees who had never fired a gun, he said.
This is the first time his company has done anything like this, Wolfgram said. The father-son business was started in 2015 in a small garage workshop in this village of about 3,000 residents 100 miles northwest of Milwaukee.

I usually savor my Sunday morning reads. As I read Vanderleun I often get the impression this guy may be writing specifically for my own benefit. He's not of course, he's just very good at what he does and any other occupation I would consider a waste of his time. I was heartbroken to hear of the destruction of his home town of Paradise California.
The Humble Host of American Digest whom has delighted his readers for years has fallen victim to the the "CAMP" fire in Northern California specifically the town of Paradise, that place is gone now. He's accepting donations to assist with his recovery efforts. If you are able and feel compelled to donate, please do.
