IL GOP Offering Chick-fil-A Gift Cards For Donations
The Illinois Republican Party is now offering Chick-fil-A gift cards to whoever gives it a donation.
The state GOP sent out an email to supporters with the header, "Donate to the GOP, Get a Chick-fil-A gift card." Republicans say Democrats have "stooped to a new low" by trying to keep Chick-fil-A from building a new store in Chicago.

The Legacy
You know that stain on the carpet where the dog got sick and pooped everywhere. It was years ago and now everytime you attempt to clean the carpet that effing stain comes right back after the carpet dries.
pResident Obama, this is your legacy. You own it. 1184 days without a budget, National Debt over 15.8 Trillion Dollars, Unemployment of 8.2%. This is your stain on America's history. Dumba$$! You were America's first black president and had a chance to make a difference. Congratulations Mr. President. This was your choice. You're just too puerile and narcissistic to be ashamed of yourself.

Choices and Consequences

Whistle blowers blew the lid off Operation Fast and Furious, but the new head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) warned staff that they would face “consequences” if they did not “find appropriate ways to raise [their] concerns to [their] leadership.”

Four Bucks from the Neighborhood Yard Sale
Appears to be brand spanking new. It may have been used once or twice. No Scorch marks and has never been seasoned. I've never seen a dutch oven that begs for a handle like this one. The lid looks like it may dual purpose as a serving tray or skillet as well. If memory serves me correctly it'll be lard and a couple hours in the oven for proper seasoning this weekend.

What an amazing run I have had these past 8 1/2 years in Boston! It has been an honor and a privilege to play every home game of my career in Boston before a sold out Fenway Park. I would like to thank everyone who gave me an opportunity in Boston, and stood behind me through all these years. To the Spinners, the Sea Dogs, the PawSox, and to all those teammates on the Red Sox since 2004, I am forever grateful. I want to thank the Red Sox ownership for all the hard work and dedication to making the Red Sox and Fenway Park a special place to play. They have always supported me on the field, and have helped out in many ways off the field. I can't thank them enough for my time in Boston. To Terry Francona, who led us to 2 World Series championships in 2004 and 2007, I thank you for your support and personal guidance through my career with the Red Sox. I thank you for being there for me not just as a manager but as a friend off the field. Thank you for the opportunity to play in 3 All-Star Games, winning 2 World Series, winning the Hank Aaron Award and a Gold Glove. I could have never accomplished all this without all my great teammates and coaches who made me a better player. I want to thank my parents and brothers for all their support from the day I got drafted. Without my Dad's hard work building that batting cage, and my Mom tirelessly schlepping me around to all my games, I would never have lived my dreams in Boston. I want to thank my beautiful wife Julie and all her family for all their support. We will always cherish Boston since it was the city in which we met and married. I also want to thank all the philanthropic people around New England and across the country who supported my charity in the past and continue to support Youk's Kids. Since its inception, we have raised over $3 million to support the neediest of children in Red Sox Nation. While my days of playing for the Red Sox have ended, I am still committed to serving the New England area through my charity. I thank all the charity's sponsors for all they have done, and their continued support going forward. And, last but no means least, to all the Red Sox Nation, the home of the most dedicated and knowledgeable fans in baseball, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. That final game at Fenway was the most emotional day of my life on the baseball field. It could not have been scripted any better. And to all those kids out there in Red Sox Nation, I can give you my Dad's advice. "Life is like a throw to first base, always aim high."
I love you all, and thanks,
Kevin Youkilis

Wait ... Alternate Caption
Nope ... I didn't see this happen. I imagine though this might be the result of using alcohol for bait or something. What you don't see here is a slight incline before the light as Thorndike Ave emerges from under an overpass. I assume he neglected to hook the bow to the trailer. He was probably stopped at the light and the boat just slipped off the trailer into the street as the light turned green.

Shut The Front Door
I'm going to be on a blog. A Blog Post I mean. Big Time Baby! I finished up the DB2 project a while back and the project managers have asked me to help put together a primer on DB2 backup and disaster recovery operations for the company blog. Should be published later this month. The test environment is scrubbed and now ready for bright lights, film, photos and movie stars. It'll probably be one of those nice looking talking head models with naughty librarian glasses and a very sweet voice reading from a script. I've a much better look for radio myself.

Nice Rides
Powered by the famous 345bhp, 345cid HEMI V8 with dual quads with an automatic transmission, push-button shifter on dash, independent torsion bar front suspension. With the division’s top HEMI V8 under the hood, the Adventurer was an early muscle car with a set of the most aesthetically pleasing tail fins ever seen on virtually any car. Introduced in mid-model year 1956, the Adventurer was DeSoto’s top-of-the-line performance flagship. The newly engineered 1957 ushered in a new “Forward Look” for all Chrysler Corporation models in a longer, lower and wider package. The 1957s have stood the test of time. In the 1950s, fins were de rigueur and echoed the public’s fascination with the possibility of space travel. The ’57 model Plymouth, Dodge, Chryslers and DeSotos had the appearance of a sleek rocket, ready to blast off. Inside the cockpit, DeSoto inset the light gold seats (60/40 up front) with gold and white tweed in the seated portion of the benches, front and rear. The labor-intensive stitched pattern of the upper door panels reveals the workmanship of the American auto industry of the 1950s. DeSoto had a reputation for building interiors of early American parlor quality and ambience. The Adventurer bridged the gap between old American charm, the rocket age of tailfins and the impending horsepower race.

Top Ten
via my friend Paul on FB
A lot is being reported in the media these days about Mitt Romney not being "likable," or that he doesn't "relate" well to people. We struggled to understand why. He is, after all, handsome, and has a nice looking wife. Isn't that enough to ensure popularity for most Americans? So . . . after much research . . . I have come up with a Top-Ten list to explain his unlikability.
Here are the top Ten Reasons To dislike and dismiss Mitt Romney
1. Successful, self-made businessman. (His dad didn't give him a penny. He and Ann had to make it on their own.)
2. He has been married to ONE woman for his entire life, and has been totally FAITHFUL to her.
3. He has no scandals or skeletons in his closet. (How boring is that?)
4. He can't speak in a fake southern black preacher voice when necessary. He never learned how to do that.
5. He knows the real meaning of giving service to his fellow man . . . and quietly shows it in his everyday life.
6. He has loads of money, and he made it all by himself. It is called Capitalism, the American way - the American dream! And . . . since nobody else in this country has any desire to have loads of money . . . we don't like him!
7. He has a family of great boys . . . none of whom are in drug rehab, nor have they been in any other type of trouble at all, EVER.
8. He doesn't smoke (not even in secret), he doesn't drink alcohol or do drugs (not even in college, where other people were supposedly NOT inhaling, or, in Obama's case INHALING!)
9. He represents an America of "yesteryear," where people believed in God, where they went to Church and took their kids with them, where they didn't screw around, where they worked hard, and where they became a SUCCESS in life!
10. Oh, and yes . . . he is a MORMON. The religion that teaches its members to be clean-living, patriotic, fiscally conservative, charitable, self-reliant, honest, upright and MORAL!
Oh, and one more point I need to make here: pundits say that because of his wealth - he can't relate to ordinary Americans. I guess that's because he made that money ALL BY HIMSELF. . . as opposed to marrying into it (as in John Kerry) or inheriting it from Dad (as in Jack, Robert & Ted Kennedy.) We didn't understand that actually working at a job and earning your own money made you unrelatable to Americans. Yep. He is pretty strange, all right.
Please, friends . . . Please make the right choice this November.

Weekend Stuff
Is this really a 5 day weekend because I missed half of it.
A statey pulled directly up my backside on 495 this morning checking out the California plates and the Gadsden. Apparently I passed inspection.
Oh ... How do you tell when you've finally put a girl and a friend together. She keeps a toothbrush for you in the overnight bag. Nice.
